Newcastle United have entered the race for the services of the 25-year-old Inter Milan defender Federico Dimarco.
According to a report by Fichajes, Newcastle United are keen on having Federico Dimarco in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to bolster their defence in the short term and they have their eyes set on the 25-year-old Italian international.
Dimarco has been a part of Inter Milan since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team back in the summer of 2015. While he made it to their first team quite early in his career, the 25-year-old had to wait a long while before becoming a regular.
He has been a regular feature in their first team since the 2021-22 season. And, of late Dimarco has become one of the mainstays of the team. His current contract with the Italian club ends in the summer of 2026 and talks have been ongoing over a new deal but there is nothing concrete as of now.
As a result, people at the club do fear a potential exit as they are well aware of Newcastle United’s interest in the 25-year-old. The Magpies want to bolster their defence as soon as possible. They are looking for a left-back and feel Dimarco could be a great fit for the club.
Not only will he bolster the left flank, but the Italian international could even feature in the heart of the defence when needed. Eddie Howe’s team have been doing an excellent job of late but he feels there is room for improvement on the left flank and they want to start the process by signing a new full-back.
The Magpies have the financial power to pull off a transfer and given the financial situation of Inter Milan, they might not be able to hold onto their player unless he pens down a new deal in the near future.
Apart from Newcastle, there are other clubs interested as well and it will be interesting to see where Dimarco ends up playing his football in 2024.
