Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants Real Madrid to sign 27-year-old Spanish international Fabian Ruiz from Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Fabian Ruiz is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 27-year-old faces an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain, with a departure in 2024 likely. And Carlo Ancelotti wants Los Blancos to prise him away from Parc des Princes.
Fabian Ruiz has seen his progress stutter since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli last year. The Spanish international was one of the best midfielders in Serie A during his stint with the Partenopei. But he has been in and out of the starting lineup in the last 15 months at Parc des Princes.
Things have gone from bad to worse in the early days of the 2023/24 season. Ruiz has started only three of the 12 games that the Ligue 1 champions have played this term. Meanwhile, his market value has dropped to €30 million from €55 million. So, something needs to change for the 27-year-old to get his career back on track.
Recent reports have claimed that Ruiz will likely leave Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, either in the January transfer window or next summer. But the Spaniard will not have a shortage of suitors pursuing him, with Real Madrid among the clubs keen on signing him.
Ruiz has previously been on Real Madrid’s radar, and Los Blancos considered a Bosman move for him when he was still at Napoli. The reinvigorated interest in the 27-year-old Spanish international is understandable, considering Luka Modric and Toni Kroos face an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While Kroos and Modric might not leave Real Madrid in January, they might depart from the Santiago Bernabeu next summer. So, it behoves Los Blancos to plan for life after the veteran playmaking duo. Fabian Ruiz is thus a viable target for Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti driving the club’s interest in him.
