Juventus are reportedly interested in a move for Thomas Partey but only on loan as a midfield crisis engulfs in Turin ahead of the January window.
According to Calciomercato, Juventus eyes a loan move for Thomas Partey ahead of January. The Arsenal midfielder may have lost his spot under Mikel Arteta, but the Spanish manager is unlikely to sanction a move for one of his most important players.
Juventus will enter the market in January in search of new midfielders as a crisis engulfs the Turin side. The off-field situation with Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli. The latter got a seven-month ban for his role in a betting scandal, while the Frenchman faces an uncertain career following a failed doping test.
Both those players are unlikely to play this season, and hence, Juventus are heading into the January window looking for replacements. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains a firm target, but Juventus only want him on loan as they do not have the necessary funds to broker a permanent move.
Similarly, they have maintained an interest in Thomas Partey after failing to lure the 30-year-old Arsenal ace in the summer. Massimiliano Allegri’s side have angled a move for the Ghanaian before and could make an approach in January.
Then again, they are only keen on a loan move, as Arsenal would reportedly demand €30 million or more for the midfielder. They are planning on a temporary move with the idea of including a buy option in the summer. The report states Partey might have lost importance at the Gunners, with a recent report stating the midfielder’s camp are in a disgruntled mood due to a lack of game time.
Some previous stories also indicated that Partey was ready to consider his future at the club. There’s a growing feeling that Arteta does not trust him anymore. There are other clubs, like some from Saudi Arabia, keen on the midfielder. In truth, Arteta considers the 30-year-old a very important player in the side.
Injuries have once again hampered Partey at the start of the season. He’s set to face further time on the sidelines after another injury before the Sevilla clash. When fit, Arteta has considered him a sure starter in the side, meaning he will return to the side after recovering from his latest problem.
Hence, the chances of Juventus luring the 30-year-old Arsenal ace on a loan deal in January appear slim. They might have to consider other options. Finding someone with their condition might prove challenging.
