Atletico Madrid are ready to fork out €25 million to acquire the services of 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Atletico Madrid are keen on having Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in their ranks. The 28-year-old Danish international has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur and is expected to be on the move in the winter transfer window.
Hojbjerg joined Spurs in the summer of 2020 and he has been a very important player for them ever since. Overall, he has featured in 154 matches for the North London club and has even contributed towards 26 goals.
Last season, he featured in a total of 44 matches and was on the pitch for over 3,800 minutes. The Danish international even contributed towards 12 goals. Despite the overall struggles of the team, the 28-year-old surely did his bit.
But, a lot has changed since the arrival of new manager Ange Postecoglou. While the Australian boss has turned Tottenham into a winning side and guided them to the top of the Premier League, a few of their senior players have lost their place as regulars in the first-team. Hojbjerg is one of those who has gone down the pecking order since the arrival of Postecoglou.
He might have been involved in eight Premier League games this season but he has been on the pitch for just over 200 minutes. The player is not really happy with the situation and is expected to push for a move away from the club this coming winter.
According to reports, Spurs won’t stand in his way and with his contract running out in 2025, they are ready to cash in on the 28-year-old. Meanwhile, there has been a lot of interest in the Danish international’s services. A few clubs have been monitoring his situation closely and will push for him in January.
Atletico Madrid are very much interested in the Spurs midfielder. They are willing to go the distance to land him at the club after pursuing him this past summer. Diego Simeone is looking more depth in the centre of the park. He wants to add someone who has a physical presence and can click in his system.

Hojbjerg seems to be a great fit for Simeone’s style of play, as a result, the La Liga club are ready to fork out €25 million to land him at the club. While Juventus are also interested in his signatures, they do not have the best of financial conditions and might end up second-best in the race.
