Newcastle United have established initial contacts as they look to land 21-year-old Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin at their club.
According to TvPlay, Newcastle United are interested in the services of Radu Dragusin. The 21-year-old defender has been in sensation form of late and the Magpies are looking to sign him in the near future. They have established contacts with the player’s agent and are very serious about their pursuit.
Dragusin joined the Juventus youth squad back in the summer of 2018. In less than three years, he made it to their first team. But, never really got enough chances to showcase his potential. He was often sent out on loan.
In the summer of 2022, the 21-year-old joined Genoa. Initially, it was a season-long loan but the move was made permanent ahead of the start of the 2023-24 season. The Romanian international has already established himself as a first-team regular at the club.
Since joining them last year, he has featured in 50 matches and has also contributed towards five goals. Dragusin has taken his game to the next level since joining Genoa. He is now amongst the best young defenders in Italy and there is a lot of interest in his services.
He has already made 10 appearances this season and has also led the team in a league game. His impressive rise has caught the attention of Newcastle United and they are serious about acquiring his services.
The Magpies have done incredible work in the transfer window since their takeover. They are now amongst the top clubs in England and are also a part of the Champions League in the ongoing season.
Eddie Howe’s team is still looking to add young talents to their mix to ensure they can challenge for important trophies. They are keen on bolstering their defence and they have their eyes on Dragusin. The 21-year-old could add depth to their defence and he can surely establish himself as a regular in the heart of the defence for the English club.
They have contacted his agent Florin Manea to talk about the player’s availability. The agent recently revealed the fact that a meeting with officials of the Newcastle club recently took place. While they haven’t put forward an offer yet, there is a high chance that the Magpies could soon launch an offer.
Florin Manea on Dragusin’s future via TvPlay: “Possible return to Juve? I wouldn’t like it, but he doesn’t know. In life you never know, even if Genoa will certainly ask for a lot of money for him. Newcastle offer of around 30 million euros? It’s not an offer from Newcastle, I’ve had meetings with both Newcastle and other teams. Genoa would only sell him for an offer higher than 30 million euros. It’s a 2002 and still has a lot of room for improvement. He is aware that he is now at 85% of his potential. Will Dragusin leave Italy ? Probably. Milan and Inter have also asked, but at those prices he can only go to Premier League teams . Interest from Claudio Lotito’s Lazio ? No”.
Manea said that the Italian club will only let him go if they receive an offer in excess of €30 million. As a result, he feels at such a price only a Premier League club afford him. And, given the interest in Newcastle in his services there are high chances of him making a move to the English club.
