Arsenal looking to offload two first-team players in order to raise funds to acquire the services of Liverpool target Andre.
According to a report by Football Insiders, Arsenal are keen on having Andre in their ranks. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been doing wonders at Fluminense and he is on the radar of quite a few top clubs from across Europe.
Andre has come through the ranks at the Brazilian club. He made his professional debut back in September 2020. The 22-year-old has since gone from strength to strength and has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team. The Brazil international has been in exceptional form in the 2023 season. He has featured in 49 games and has racked up over 4,200 minutes.
His impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention over the past few transfer windows. In the summer, there was a lot of interest in his services. Liverpool even submitted bids but Fluminense were determined to have him at the club until the end of the year. They want to win the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history and even the player has been committed to the task.
Fluminense might have managed to keep him at the club in the summer. But, Liverpool are expected to return for him in the winter. The Merseyside club are still in search of a young defensive midfielder who can solve their troubles in the short as well as the long term. And, Andre seems to be a perfect fit.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are quite confident about their chances but they might face competition from Arsenal. The Gunners want to bolster their midfield and add this young gem to the mix. But, they do not have enough funds.
However, they are still keen on signing the 22-year-old and could look to cash in on Jorginho and Thomas Partey. The duo have received a lot of interest of late and the departure of either of them could help Mikel Arteta’s team beat Liverpool in the race for the services of the Brazilian international.
Both Jorginho and Partey haven’t had enough minutes in the ongoing season. The arrival of Declan Rice has seen them go down the pecking order. As a result, selling them won’t be that big a problem for Arsenal.
