Arsenal can sign Sacha Boey for €20 million during the January transfer window, with Galatasaray not open to accepting less for the right-back.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal may have to pay €20 million or more if they wish to secure Sacha Boey in the January transfer window. Galatasaray consider him an important player. But with the Gunners likely to return with their interest in the 23-year-old French defender, they could sell him.
Arsenal continued their unbeaten start to the season with a thrilling comeback draw against Chelsea after going two goals behind. Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard were on the scoresheet as the Gunners are vying to challenge for the title once again.
Much like last January when they were in pole position for the Premier League crown, Mikel Arteta strengthened his side rather wisely. This time around, the Spanish manager will look at different options to add, with Sacha Boey as one of the players that could interest him.
The 23-year-old French defender was on their radar during the summer, with Arsenal reportedly even making an offer for him. The Gunners were looking at different options at right-back during the previous window and eventually signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax.
The Dutchman has since suffered a potentially season-ending injury on the Premier League’s opening weekend, which has left Arsenal short of defensive options. They do have a formidable backline and backup, but there is some need for more personnel.
For instance, Takehiro Tomiyasu remains their no.1 choice to cover for Ben White at right-back and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the left. The Japanese international also has a questionable injury history, which puts the Gunners at risk with their squad depth.
Hence, adding a new right-back might help their cause, with Arsenal retaining an interest in Boey. The 23-year-old French defender was open to a move in the summer but has decided to wait and continue his career at Galatasaray.
Galatasaray are open to a sale in January if they can get €20 million for the defender. Arsenal will certainly stay alert to the possibility, but they have rivals angling for a move as well. For instance, Manchester United also sent scouts along with the Gunners to watch him recently.
While the Gunners may benefit from their groundwork on the defender during the summer, they must act swiftly to secure the 23-year-old French defender. For now, he remains a Galatasaray player, but things could change in January when his suitors have a different perspective on him.
