Real Madrid might look to sign 26-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Alvaro Valles from fellow La Liga club UD Las Palmas.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alvaro Valles is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are scouring the market for goalkeepers heading into the two transfer windows in 2024. And the 26-year-old UD Last Palmas goalkeeper has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.
Alvaro Valles has had to bide his time to rise in prominence in La Liga. The Spanish goalkeeper is a former trainee at Real Betis but failed to establish a foothold at the Benito Villamarin Stadium, moving to Las Palmas in July 2018. He has steadily grown in stature at the Gran Canarian club in the last half a decade.
Valles has taken to life in La Liga like fish to water, immediately establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the league. The 26-year-old has conceded eight goals in nine top-flight outings, keeping two clean sheets. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile.
Recent reports have linked the Spaniard with Real Betis and reigning La Liga champions Barcelona. But the two heavyweight clubs will have to contend with Real Madrid in the race to secure Valles’s services. And Los Blancos’ interest in him is understandable.
Kepa Arrizabalaga joined Real Madrid on loan for the 2023/24 season from Chelsea in the summer transfer window. But it is unclear if Los Blancos will launch the offensive to complete a permanent deal next summer. But the Spanish goalkeeper is keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2024.
Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin faces an uncertain future at the Bernabeu heading into the January transfer window. The Ukrainian shot-stopper is ready to call it quits at Real Madrid in the January transfer window after failing to establish himself as a regular.
With his prospects unlikely to improve, Lunin should part ways with Real Madrid. So, Valles is a viable target, as the 26-year-old Spanish goalkeeper can replace Lunin at the Bernabeu in a transfer window in 2024. It will be interesting to see if a deal materialises next year.
