Tottenham could benefit from Jack Clarke transfer, Crystal Palace keen

Tottenham Hotspur are set for a financial windfall should Crystal Palace target Jack Clarke move in the January transfer window

Jack Clarke struggled to make a name for himself at Tottenham Hotspur but the young winger could be handed a chance to redeem himself in the top flight should Crystal Palace land him in the January transfer window.

The Eagles are one of the teams keeping close tabs on the Sunderland man who continues to impress in the Championship. With seven goals in 11 games, he has led the Black Cats’ charge to a playoff spot and is attracting much attention thanks to his decisive performances in front of the goal.

The 22-year-old looks a far cry from the player who appeared to be out of his depth at Tottenham. Experience has certainly moulded him well and Clarke looks like a player who is on the verge of fulfilling his vast potential.

Having rejected bids for Clarke in the summer, Sunderland are more than likely to have a fight on their hands to retain him when the January window opens on New Year’s day. The Black Cats are looking at around £20 million in transfer fee, an amount that no Premier League side have yet matched.

Tottenham, for their part, will be keen for the sale to go through given the sell-on clause in Clarke’s agreement as per TeamTalk. The player joined Sunderland in 2022 on a permanent deal from Spurs and has a clause in his deal which will see the latter gain financially from a future sale.

This will be music to the ears of Daniel Levy who loves himself a good deal. While it has not been revealed as to what percentage of the sale will go to Tottenham, it could be as high as 50%. Should that prove true, it would be an incredible boost for a side that is leading the Premier League standings going into this weekend’s fixtures.

Tottenham have enjoyed mixed luck in the transfer window of late and Clarke certainly did not live up to expectations in a white shirt. However, financially they might still benefit should all things work in their favour. Not a bad deal for a player who appeared lost while in North London.
