Real Madrid might look to launch the offensive to sign 18-year-old Serbian defender Jan-Carlo Simic from AC Milan.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jan-Carlo Simic is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are scouring the market for centre-backs ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window. And the 18-year-old AC Milan wonderkid has emerged as a target for them.
Jan-Carlo Simic is a native of Nurtingen and spent most of his formative years thus far in Germany. He began his youth career at SV Hegnach before having stints at Stuttgarter Kickers and VfB Stuttgart. But the teenage sensation is finishing playing age-group football in Italy after joining AC Milan last year.
The Rossoneri shelled out €1 million to land the 18-year-old defensive sensation. The youngster has made significant progress in the last 15 months, making 44 appearances for different AC Milan teams. Meanwhile, Simic has chosen to represent Serbia on the international stage and currently plays for the nation’s Under-19 team.
Simic’s progress at the Serie A club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in Europe. Reports in the summer transfer window linked the young defender with Arsenal. And the teenager has now emerged as a target for Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2024 summer.
Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid might be in for a long 2023/24 season after ending the summer transfer window with a barebone defence and attack. They are feeling the effects already, with Antonio Rudiger being the only available centre-back. While David Alaba and Eder Militao are on the sidelines due to fitness issues, Nacho is serving a suspension.
So, it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid will enter the 2024 summer transfer window for a young centre-back. Several defenders, including Antonio Silva, have thus popped up on Real Madrid’s radar. Simic has become the latest promising central defender to emerge as a target for Los Blancos.
The 18-year-old prodigy has made remarkable progress at AC Milan. He should make his first-team debut soon. But Real Madrid’s interest might turn his head, meaning the Serie A giants need to be on their toes to retain his services beyond next summer.
