Manchester United have set a price tag of £40 million for their centre-back Harry Maguire amid interest from West Ham United.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, West Ham United are keen on having Harry Maguire in their ranks. The 30-year-old centre-back has been on their radar for a while, and they will once again push for his services in the winter after having failed to sign him in the summer. But the Hammers need to pay £40 million to land him.
Maguire joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019 in a big-money move. He was an integral part of their first team in the initial years. But of late, things have gone downhill for the England international. Since the arrival of Erik ten Hag as their new boss last summer, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order.
The Dutch manager hardly used the 30-year-old last season. And, Manchester United were ready to offload him in the summer. West Ham wanted to sign him during the summer transfer window, they even managed to strike a deal with the Red Devils worth £30 million. But the player refused to negotiate personal terms with the Hammers.
His situation at Old Trafford has not changed, the England international is surplus to requirements at this point in time. He is the fifth choice centre-back at the club behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans. The limited opportunities that Maguire has had this season have come because of injuries to the other centre-backs.
The Red Devils are keen on signing a new defender in the winter. As a result, they are looking to cash in on the 30-year-old. They have set an asking price of £40 million for the former Leicester City defender.
Meanwhile, West Ham still remain interested in his services. The Hammers might have failed in the summer but are confident of getting in over the line in the winter. Their manager David Moyes believes he can bring the best out of Maguire and get him back to playing at his best.

They are desperate for a new centre-back and the money raised will help them sign one.
