Sunderland will reportedly look to re-sign Amad Diallo in the January transfer window, with Manchester United ready to sanction a loan deal.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Amad Diallo is the subject of interest from Sunderland. The Black Cats are plotting a deal for the Ivory Coast international heading into the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is ready to sanction a winter loan deal for the young prospect.
Amad Diallo has been with Manchester United since 2021, with the Red Devils signing him in a deal worth €40 million. The 21-year-old had pundits raving about him with his performances for Atalanta. But he is yet to establish a foothold at Manchester United, managing only nine outings thus far.
The Ivory Coast international has continued his progress on loan at Rangers and Sunderland. Erik ten Hag was ready to integrate Amad into the first-team squad this season after a successful stint with the latter. But a knee injury has hampered the youngster’s progress, leaving him on the sidelines in the first two months of the new campaign.
With Amad’s prospects suffering following his spell on the sidelines, a loan move might serve him best. And Sunderland might offer the 21-year-old prospect a way out of his mess as they plot a January move for him. The report adds that Erik ten Hag has sanctioned a loan deal for the young attacker.
The Ivory Coast international guided Sunderland to a sixth-place finish last season. While he failed to help the Wearside club return to the Premier League, he has left an indelible mark at the Stadium of Light. So, it is hardly surprising that the Black Cats want to bring him back in the January transfer window.
Tony Mowbray’s men are in the playoffs picture again this season. And while they sit 11 points behind the table-topping Leicester City, another playoff run might end positively. So, re-signing Amad Diallo in the January transfer window might be a step in the right direction.
Manchester United’s investment of €40 million in Amad Diallo has not worked out thus far. But another successful loan stint away from Old Trafford might be perfect for him to regain his confidence and finally establish a foothold at Manchester United.
