Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are interested in the services of the 28-year-old Bayern Munich mainstay Joshua Kimmich.

According to a report by 90min, Manchester City retain their interest in the services of Joshua Kimmich. The 28-year-old was on their radar during the summer transfer window but Bayern Munich were not ready to let him leave the club. However, with his contract running out in 18 months’ time, things could be different in 2024.

Kimmich is among the best midfielders in world football. He has been doing it on a consistent basis for the German giants. The 28-year-old joined them back in the summer of 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength.

He has been one of the mainstays of their team over the years. In the ongoing season, he already has 11 appearances and has been on the pitch for over 800 minutes. The German international has also contributed with five assists.

While he remains an integral part of the Bayern setup, the interest in services is at an all-time high. The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester City during the summer. The player was ready to make the move according to multiple reports but the German club had no intentions of letting him leave.

However, they might have to change their stance with his contract running out. Kimmich’s deal runs out in the summer of 2025. And, with the player all set to enter the final 18 months of his contract, there is a lot of interest in him.

There is no certainty that the 28-year-old will pen down a new deal and he is weighing up his options. As a result, he could force the German club into selling him next summer. And, this is where City come in.

The English club were interested in him back in the summer. While they might have signed Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes, they are still looking for further options.

Pep Guardiola has worked with Kimmich during his days at Bayern and considers him to be amongst the very best. The Spanish boss would love to have him in his ranks. And, given the fact that he can also contribute as a defender is something that would bolster City’s squad to a great extent. As a result, they will keep a close eye on his situation at the German club.
