Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will have to break the bank to acquire the services of 23-year-old Portuguese winger Pedro Neto.
According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal will have to pay a fortune to sign Pedro Neto in the winter transfer market. The 23-year-old has had a sensational start to the 2023-24 season and his performances have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe.
Neto joined Wolves in the summer of 2019 from Lazio. He went from strength to strength after joining the English club. But over the past two seasons, things were not really going right for the 23-year-old. He struggled with injuries and didn’t really get to play much of football.
However, the Portuguese international has brought his career back on track thanks to his heroic start in the new season. He has featured in seven Premier League games and has contributed towards five goals.
Neto was one of the best players for Wolves in their fixture against Manchester City when they managed to smash the defending champions 2-1. With the 23-year-old back at his best, quite a few clubs are ready to bid for his services.
Arsenal are one of the teams keen on having him in their ranks. The Gunners are looking for more depth in wide areas. They want to sign someone who is versatile and can feature on both flanks. And, Neto seems to be a perfect fit for the club as he can provide cover for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. If needed he could even start alongside either of them on the flanks.
He penned down a new deal with the English club last year that runs until the summer of 2027. With four years left on his deal, Wolves have all the control on the negotiation table. They will only let the 23-year-old leave if they end up receiving a huge bid for his services.
With Wolves holding out for a huge fee, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal are ready to meet the demands of the club to acquire the services of Neto.
