Real Madrid ready to pay €70 million to sign Alphonso Davies

Real Madrid will be happy to sign €70 million to sign Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies, a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea and Real Madrid remain interested in Alphonso Davies. But the Merengues are ready to make the first move, as they are prepared to cough up €70 million to sign the Bayern Munich full-back. The 22-year-old will enter the final year of his contract next summer.

Alphonso Davies has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the world since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps. The Canadian international arrived at the Allianz Arena in January 2019. A budding winger back then, he has transformed into a rampaging full-back at the Bavarian club.

The 22-year-old has turned out 163 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with eight goals and 28 assists. But the Bundesliga champions are in a spot of bother over Davies’s long-term future. The youngster will enter the final year of his contract next summer, with the situation alerting Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The Merengues hold a long-standing interest in the promising wide man. They have considered signing the player in recent transfer windows without launching the offensive. But with Davies keen on joining Real Madrid, the Spanish giants are laying the groundwork over a move in the 2024 summer transfer window.

They are now ready to make the first move for the 22-year-old, with the report claiming they are prepared to submit a bid worth €70 million. The latest update surrounding Real Madrid’s impending offer should come as a jolt to the other suitors, including Chelsea.

Chelsea recently joined the race to sign Davies, but the update came as a surprise. While Marc Cucurella might depart from Stamford Bridge in 2024, Ian Maatsen is a promising prospect. And recent reports have claimed that Chelsea will look to tie Maatsen to a new contract. So, it is unclear why they might look to pursue the Bayern Munich full-back.

The Canadian international is also a target for Manchester City. So, the race to sign the player from Bayern Munich should heat up next year. But with Real Madrid likely making the first move with a bid worth €70 million, it will be interesting to see how the other suitors respond.
