Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing VfB Stuttgart goal-machine Serhou Guirassy after his brilliant start to the season.
According to transfer expert Dean Jones (via GiveMeSport), VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window.
Jones wrote on GMS, “There are early observations being made of Stuttgart front man Serhou Guirassy, though. The club are determined to take their time over finding a proper Kane replacement, and while they eventually will do so, it might not be until the end of the season.”
The Guinea international has been linked with a move to the Premier League on several occasions in the past, back when he was at French outfit Amiens. But genuine interest from top clubs could come in 2024 if he continues his early-season goal-blitz in the Bundesliga.
The VfB Stuttgart striker is one of the most in-form frontmen in Europe after a return of ten goals from six Bundesliga outings. That is more than what Harry Kane has managed at Bayern Munich so far, and it even surpasses the tallies of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland this term.
The 27-year-old had been something of a late bloomer, turning out for the likes of 1.FC Koln, Amiens, and Rennes with mixed success. A 2022 loan move to Stuttgart has really got Guirassy rolling, though, as he racked up 14 goals in 28 games last season, prompting the Bundesliga outfit to make his move permanent.
Brighton were one of the first clubs to be offered the chance to sign the Guinea international a couple of years ago. But more recently, Fulham and West Ham have been expressing interest. Both of those clubs are still looking to bring the striker to the Premier League in the January window.
Interestingly, Tottenham Hotspur are said to be one of the teams exploring a potential move to sign Guirassy. The Lilywhites’ groundwork for replacing Kane in the squad is being carefully crafted for the long term, but the club will ramp up the process in 2024.
The decision not to replace Kane straightaway in the summer transfer window has proven to be the right decision so far, and Son Heung-min’s potency through the middle is something Ange Postecoglou is more than pleased with. Spurs have netted 17 times in seven Premier League games this season, with Son bagging six of them.
Richarlison is considered as the alternative plan of attack for the moment. But that is bound to change as this team continues to evolve under Postecoglou in the upcoming transfer windows. While Guirassy’s age profile might not exactly fit into the youth-oriented side Tottenham are currently trying to assemble, he will definitely offer them something that they do not have in attack.
His prowess in the air, strength, close control, and deadly finishing powers cannot be ignored. Moreover, the 27-year-old’s tempting €20 million clause may well be an irresistible pull for Daniel Levy and co. to at least consider a move for him next year.
