Manchester United are keeping a close eye on 23-year-old OGC Nice centre-back Jean Clair Todibo ahead of a potential transfer in 2024.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are planning to invest in a new central defender in 2024 and they are keeping a close eye on Jean Clair Todibo. The 23-year-old centre-back has been doing wonders of late and there is a lot of interest in his services from across Europe.
Todibo joined Barcelona at a very early stage in his career but he failed to fire at the Spanish club. The 23-year-old was subject to a lot of loan moves during his time in Spain and he finally ended up joining Nice in the winter of 2021. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent in the following summer.
The French international has gone from strength to strength since joining Nice. He has featured in a total of 108 matches and has even contributed towards three goals. Over the past 18 months, he has become the mainstay of their team.
Last season, Todibo was involved in 46 matches for the French club and he racked up over 4,000 minutes. His impressive performances for the club have attracted a lot of attention. But, Nice managed to hold onto their player in the summer. However, the clubs are expected to return for his services in the upcoming transfer windows.
Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old. They might have invested in a few centre-backs over the past few windows but they are still considering investing in another defender.
Harry Maguire is expected to leave the club in the near future and Jonny Evans who has been handed a one-year deal at the club might not be a part of the team next season. Even their main centre-backs have been struggling with injuries. As a result, they will need defensive reinforcement.
Todibo has been on their radar for a while now and they are expected to make a move for him in 2024. While there are other names on their radar, the 23-year-old could end up being their priority to reinforce the heart of their defence.
