Manchester United remain interested in the services of 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The 28-year-old midfielder has gone down the pecking order at Tottenham Hotspur and he is expected to part ways with the club in the upcoming transfer window.
After proving himself in the English top flight while playing for Southampton, the Danish international joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2020. The 28-year-old had a very important role at the London club until the end of last season.
During the 2022-23 season, the 28-year-old featured in a total of 44 matches and was on the pitch for close to 4,000 minutes. He even contributed towards 12 goals.
But, over the past few months a lot has changed at Spurs and Hojbjerg is no longer an important part of their plans. He hasn’t had a prominent role under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager has used him in five Premier League matches but he has been restricted to just 78 minutes of football.
The 28-year-old’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2025 but he is expected to be on the move in the winter transfer window given the current situation. However, Spurs won’t let him leave on the cheap, they are looking for a minimum of €30 million to part ways with the Danish international.
There is a lot of interest in Hojbjerg’s services from across Europe. Manchester United are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on the former Southampton midfielder. The Red Devils have been linked with him for a while and could end up making a move for him in the winter.
While United have already invested a lot into their midfield, they could still move in for another midfielder but it will most likely depend on the outgoings. There are a few players at United who are surplus to requirements, if they end up leaving in January, the Red Devils could go hard for the 28-year-old.
Recent reports suggested that the player’s agent has been in talks with multiple clubs over a transfer in the winter and Manchester United could be one of those clubs according to the report.
