Real Madrid contemplating 2024 summer move for Sergio Arribas

Real Madrid might look to re-sign 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Sergio Arribas from Almeria in the 2024 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Sergio Arribas is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 21-year-old joined Almeria in the summer transfer window. But Los Blancos might return to re-sign the young midfielder in the 2024 summer transfer window. And their ownership of 50% rights makes the player an attractive target.

Sergio Arribas is a native of Madrid and began his youth career at Perez Galdoz. He then spent two years at CD Leganes before joining Real Madrid in July 2012. The Spanish midfielder spent over a decade at Real Madrid, rising through the ranks at the club before becoming a mainstay for the Castilla side.

But while Arribas made his first-team debut in 2020, regular opportunities came few and far between. The 21-year-old thus managed only 14 appearances for the senior side before calling it quits at Real Madrid this past summer. And several well-known clubs were keen on securing his services in the transfer window.

But Arribas picked Almeria as his next destination, with the Spanish club signing him for just €6 million. The youngster has hit the ground running at the Power Horse Stadium, scoring four goals in six appearances thus far. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of his former club, Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s interest in Arribas is somewhat surprising, considering they signed two midfielders in the summer. But Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are well into their thirties and approaching the end of their glittering careers. So, Real Madrid might have to delve into the market for a midfielder next summer.

Several candidates, including Gabri Veiga, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar as they scour the market for a viable target. But Arribas is also an option worth considering since he is establishing himself as one of the best young midfielders in La Liga. Meanwhile, the Merengues own 50% of the Spaniard’s rights, meaning they will not need to break the bank to re-sign him.

The 21-year-old Spanish midfielder is an intriguing target for Real Madrid. But while the young prospect can be a cost-effective signing, we are still in the early days of the 2023/24 season. So, it will be interesting to see if he is Real Madrid’s top target in the 2024 summer transfer window.
