Bayern Munich will reportedly look to sign Barcelona’s midfield mainstay in a deal worth €100-120 million next summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pedri is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions want to bolster their midfield unit in the 2024 summer transfer window. And they are ready to fork out between €100 million and €120 million to land the Barcelona midfielder.
Pedri has come leaps and bounds since joining Barcelona from UD Las Palmas three years ago. The 20-year-old spent his formative years with three clubs before graduating from the Las Palmas youth division. And the youngster’s progress at the Gran Canarian outfit alerted several high-profile clubs before Barcelona came calling.
The Blaugrana sealed the deal to secure Pedri’s services a year before he arrived at Camp Nou. And the Spanish international has been a pivotal figure for his club and country since then. The youngster is a mainstay in the middle of the park for Barcelona, with the club building the long-term team around him.
While the Spaniard has struggled with fitness issues in the last two seasons, he remains an excellent performer. The young midfielder has turned out over 100 times thus far for Barcelona, chipping in with 17 goals and eight assists. But Barcelona might be in a spot of bother over Pedri’s future, with Bayern Munich keen on signing him.
The Bundesliga champions were eager to bolster their midfield unit with multiple signings this past summer. But while Konrad Laimer arrived from RB Leipzig on a free transfer, Bayern Munich failed to land another player. They chased Joao Palhinha until the final moments of the transfer window before the move failed to materialise.
Palhinha remains a target for Bayern Munich heading into the summer transfer window. But with Leon Goretzka’s performance levels tumbling, Die Roten can do with another midfielder. So, Pedri’s name has emerged towards the top of Bayern Munich’s wishlist. And they are ready to offer between €100 million to €120 million to land the Barcelona midfield mainstay.
But Barcelona will unlikely entertain offers to part ways with the 20-year-old Spanish international. Pedri is one of their best players, meaning it is hard to see them cashing in on the youngster unless their financial situation worsens considerably.
