Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign AC Milan captain Davide Calabria in the 2024 summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Davide Calabria is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti wants Los Blancos to secure the services of the AC Milan captain. And they will soon contact the 26-year-old and the Serie A giants to test the waters over a 2024 move.
Davide Calabria has been with AC Milan for nearly two decades, having joined them in 2006. The Italian international rose through the ranks at the Serie A club before making his first-team debut as an 18-year-old in 2015. In addition, he has been a regular for the Azzurri in the last few years.
One of the best right-backs in Serie A, the 26-year-old has been a pivotal figure for AC Milan for a long time. And Calabria became the club captain after Alessio Romagnoli’s departure. He has made 222 appearances thus far for the Rossoneri, chipping in with eight goals and 18 assists.
Calabria’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with pundits viewing him as one of the best right-backs in the world. Meanwhile, a few high-profile clubs have been tailing him over the years, with Real Madrid currently considering a move. The interest from Real Madrid comes from Carlo Ancelotti.
The former AC Milan manager tends to keep a close eye on his former club. In addition, the Italian tactician has a deep knowledge of Serie A, meaning him driving Real Madrid’s interest in the 26-year-old carries some weight. Meanwhile, the Merengues are keen on signing a right-back in the 2024 summer transfer window.
Dani Carvajal has been a top-class performer for Real Madrid. But the Spaniard is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final phase of his glittering career. Several right-backs, including Reece James, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. But Calabria is also a viable target, with Los Blancos ready to test the waters over a 2024 move.
