Manchester United are planning on talks to hand Hannibal Mejbri a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2024.

According to 90min, Hannibal Mejbri could land a new contract at Manchester United, with the club planning discussions about the same. The 20-year-old prospect is already a regular for Tunisia and continues to rise in stature at Old Trafford.

During last weekend’s loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, Hannibal Mejbri was the happiest Manchester United player after scoring his first-ever goal for the club. The midfielder’s long-range shot found the back of Jason Steele’s goal and was jumping in jubilation.

Mejbri looks ready to make his mark on this team. But there is still a long way to go before Erik Ten Hag starts considering him regularly. In any case, Manchester United are keen to secure his future as they want to retain the 20-year-old prospect on the cheap in the coming period.

Mejbri’s current deal expires in 2024, but Manchester United can exercise an extension in his contract by another season. The club have no intention to do that as they might look to hand the 20-year-old prospect a new deal.

Manchester United are reportedly discussing the idea of a new deal for Mejbri and could open talks with the 20-year-old prospect soon. The club are also looking to do the same with some other young stars, with Uruguayan star Facundo Pellistri also in line for a new contract.

Right now, Majbri may get a run in this team following a raft of injuries to many key Manchester United players. So far, ten Hag has used six midfielders this season, including the 20-year-old, which shows the manager’s pecking order.

With games coming to thick and fast, members could get regular minutes in the side, starting with the match against Burnley. Over in the summer, the midfielder attracted the interest of a few teams, as Manchester United were reluctant to let him leave, especially in light of Besiktas’ approach.

In January, Manchester United could offload Scott McTominay, which may shorten the pecking order for Mejbri in the midfield ladder. The club could now explore extending his contract, which may come to fruition if their projections about the 20-year-old prospect are accurate.

He could go on to forge a solid career here or, at best, allow the club to make a profit on their investment if they decide to sell him in the future. As for ten Hag, he must use the current circumstances to test Mejbri in his team further as much as possible to gauge his impact on the squad.
