Manchester United are looking to acquire the services of 20-year-old Santos forward Marcos Leonardo in 2024.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United have their eyes set on Marcos Leonardo and preparing a bid for the 20-year-old South American sensational. The Brazil Under-23 star has been doing wonders of late, and there is a lot of interest in his services from across Europe.
Leonardo has come through the ranks at Santos and was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2020. The 20-year-old striker has already featured in 155 matches for the Santos first team, contributing towards 61 goals.
He has found the back of the net on 50 occasions since making his debut. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, he has featured in 36 matches and has racked up over 3,000 minutes. The 20-year-old has contributed towards 21 goals.
He has gone from strength to strength over the past few seasons. And, his impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, as there are quite a few clubs keen on having him in their ranks in the near future.
Leonardo’s contract with the Brazilian club runs until the end of 2026. But, there is a real possibility of him leaving Santos in the upcoming transfer window. There is strong interest in him from England, and the biggest club that is ready to push for his services are Manchester United.
The Red Devils are in search of more firepower up top. They might have signed 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund in the summer. But there is still room for another striker, and they are keen on having the Brazil Under-23 star at their disposal.
His arrival will surely bolster their attack, and Erik ten Hag will have more options to work with. The Red Devils have been scouting him for a while now and are all set to push for his services in 2024. They are preparing a bid for the 20-year-old who is on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe.
According to the report, the Red Devils are ready to spend €20 million to land him at the club. With Manchester United serious about their pursuit of the young striker, it will be interesting to see if they can land him at the club once the transfer window re-opens.
