Thomas Partey will look to part ways with Arsenal in the winter if he does not get the desired game time under Mikel Arteta.
According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal star Thomas Partey could consider parting ways with the club in the winter. The 30-year-old midfielder fears that he might no longer be a part of Mikel Arteta’s first-choice starting XI. As a result, he could end up leaving in January.
Partey came through the ranks at Atletico Madrid and he made it to their first team back in 2015. The Ghana international went from strength to strength over the next few seasons and became a mainstay for the Colchoneros under the leadership of Diego Simeone.
After a five-year-long successful stint with the club’s first team, he left the club in 2020. The 30-year-old joined Arsenal in a transfer that was worth £45 million. And Partey has been an integral part of Arteta’s plan ever since he joined the North London club.
Last season, he featured in a total of 40 matches and was on the pitch for over 2,600 minutes. The 30-year-old even contributed with three goals. However, things have changed of late and even the player fears that he might no longer be a part of the Spanish boss’s first-choice XI.
Partey might have featured in four matches before his injury, but three of those appearances came as a right-back. With Gabriel Magalhaes losing curry, Arteta started Ben White as a centre-back, and the 30-year-old was asked to fill in as the full-back.
But, with Gabriel Magalhaes back and playing decently, White has returned to his preferred position. And, with Arsenal signing Declan Rice for a club-record fee, it is pretty clear that he is the preferred choice in the centre of the park.
As a result, Partey fears that he might not find a place in Arteta’s XI when returns from his groin injury next month. If he does not get enough game time, the Ghana international could leave the club in January according to the report.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of interest in his services, and he can surely be a regular in the majority of the top clubs around the world. Juventus are one of the clubs interested in the 30-year-old with Paul Pogba all set to serve a long doping ban.
