Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Portuguese international defender Goncalo Inacio, valued at €30 million by Sporting CP.
According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool remain keen on Goncalo Inacio. The Reds were also keen on the Portuguese international in the summer transfer window but did not launch a move. Meanwhile, Sporting CP will demand around €30 million to part ways with him.
The 22-year-old defender is highly rated around Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. He has all the attributes to develop into a top-class defender, and he could be a key player for Liverpool in the coming season.
Liverpool need to bring in defensive reinforcements, and they should have signed a quality central defender during the summer transfer window. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are the only reliable defenders at the club right now.
Joel Matip is past his peak and he has had his fair share of injury problems. Meanwhile, Joe Gomez has an unreliable fitness record as well. Inacio would be a solid acquisition for Liverpool, and the 22-year-old could slot into multiple roles and add greater tactical flexibility to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The youngster can operate as the left-sided central defender as well as a left-back. He is capable of operating in a back four as well as a back three. Liverpool could certainly use a defensive left-back, and Inacio could be a useful option in that role instead of Andrew Robertson.
Depending upon the opposition, Klopp could use him as a defensive full-back who will add greater stability to the Liverpool defence. The Portuguese defender is reportedly valued at €30 million and he could prove to be a major bargain at that price.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign the defender in the coming months. A move in January might not be possible. Sporting CP will not want to weaken their squad midway through the season and Liverpool could be forced to wait until the end of the season in order to sign him. The 22-year-old will look to take the next step in his career and a move to Liverpool would be ideal for him.
