2022/23 Serie A winner Piotr Zielinski reportedly wants to join Real Madrid in a Bosman move when his Napoli contract expires.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid might have to opportunity to sign Piotr Zielinski in 2024. The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Serie A champions Napoli. And he wants to join Los Blancos in a Bosman move in next summer’s transfer window.
Piotr Zielinski has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Napoli from Udinese in August 2016. The Polish midfielder had been in Italy for five years before his move to San Paolo, representing Udinese and Empoli. But he has taken his performances to the next level at Napoli.
The 29-year-old has been a pivotal figure for his club and country in the last half a dozen years. And he played an instrumental role as Napoli won the Serie A title last season. Zielinski has retained his solid form early in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring once in three games. But the player’s contract situation has left the Partenopei in a spot of bother.
Reports in the summer transfer window heavily linked Zielinski with a move to Saudi Arabia. But the transfer collapsed in the final month of the window, with Napoli retaining his services. However, with the 29-year-old in the final year of his deal, a Bosman move away from the Serie A club might be on the cards. And he wants to join Real Madrid next summer.
The Merengues were busy in the summer transfer window to bolster their midfield department. Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu to beef up Real Madrid’s squad. And the duo’s arrival has significantly improved Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield options at Real Madrid.
But Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are well into their thirties and approaching the end of their glittering careers. So, Real Madrid must remain alert for opportunities in the market if either player calls it a day at the end of the ongoing season. And Zielinski might be a viable target for Los Blancos.

The 29-year-old does not fit Real Madrid’s modus operandi in the market. But replacing Kroos or Modric with an experienced midfielder might be sensible, considering Ancelotti’s squad has many youngsters. But it will be interesting to see if the Serie A winner can secure his desired move to Real Madrid next summer.
