Lazio have established contact with Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood, offering him a derisory salary of €700,000 per year.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio on Twitter, Serie A giants Lazio have made contact with Manchester United star Mason Greenwood as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
The 21-year-old is amongst the finest youngsters to come through the Red Devils youth system in recent times and appeared set for a big future. While his ability on the field is clear for all to see, Greenwood’s off-the-field antics have more or less finished off his career as a Red Devils star.
Manchester Untied are ready to move him on and from the looks of it, Lazio have come calling. The Serie A giants are looking to build upon a promising 2022/23 campaign and are keen to land Greenwood in order to bolster their attack.
Lazio owner Claudio Lotito is in touch with Greenwood’s representatives and appears to have discussed the money involved in a potential deal. The 21-year-old looks set to net €700,000 in wages should he move to Stadio Olimpico.

There are several clubs from across Europe keen on signing the 21-year-old. Even clubs from Saudi Arabia are interested but are yet to make a move. Whether Lazio have made overtures to Manchester United or are still talking to only the player remains unconfirmed.
Time is of the essence for Lazio as the Italian transfer window shuts at 7 pm BST, while the English window runs until 11 pm BST. Unless Lazio can pull something off in the next couple of hours, they might as well look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.
Lazio could still make a move for Greenwood past the deadline should Manchester Untied release him for free, seeing him enter the Bosman market. However, it remains unconfirmed that the Red Devils are prepared to cut ties for no financial gain.
Signing Greenwood will not be a good look for Lazio, at least as far as fan perception goes. However, as long as he performs on the field, football fans tend to have selective and short memories regarding the stars they worship.
