Arsenal hold talks to sign Victor Osimhen in 2024

Premier League contenders Arsenal have entered the race for the signatures of 24-year-old Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Victor Osimhen. The Gunners are interested in the services of the 24-year-old and have held talks with Napoli over a potential transfer of the Nigerian ace to the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal into a winning team again. The Gunners were in the Premier League title race right until the end. While they did not win the title, the London club have secured Champions League football.

They are now looking to consistently challenge for major titles. As a result, they have already spent a fortune on new signings. While they have made significant changes for the upcoming season, the Gunners have already started planning for next summer.

They want to add a world-class number nine to the mix by the summer of 2024. They want to sign a marquee player who can score a lot of goals and have their eyes set on Napoli’s Osimhen.

The Gunners’ sporting director Edu Gaspar recently reached out to the owner of the Serie A club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to enquire about the 24-year-old services. The Gunners basically wanted to know about the availability of the player and what they needed to do to secure his services.

They have already held talks with the player’s agent Roberto Calenda who has encouraged them about a potential deal. Meanwhile, Osimhen has been on fire for Napoli over the past 18 months. Last season, he scored 26 goals in his 32 league outings and he was one of the main reasons for the Naples-based club’s title win.

The 24-year-old has carried his form into the 2023-24 season with three league goals in two outings. While he is expected to continue at the Italian club for this season, the Nigerian international could part ways in the summer of 2024.

His contract runs out in 2025 and he is not keen on signing a new deal with Napoli. As a result, they might consider offloading him rather than losing out on him for free.
