Barcelona in transfer tussle to sign Heriberto Jurado

Barcelona prioritising January move for Thiago Alcantara.

Barcelona might look to sign 18-year-old Mexican wonderkid Heriberto Jurado from Club Nacaxa before the summer transfer window closes.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Heriberto Jurado is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have been keeping tabs on the progress of the 18-year-old prodigy. And the Club Necaxa sensation is also a target for Portuguese giants FC Porto and Sporting CP.

Heriberto Jurado has spent his formative years thus far in his homeland. One of the best young prospects in his homeland, he is a pacy winger who likes to take on the opposition defenders. And after rising through the ranks at Club Necaxa, he made his league debut as a 16-year-old in 2021.

The 18-year-old has come leaps and bounds since then, establishing himself as a regular for Club Necaxa. He has turned out 44 times thus far for the Mexican outfit, chipping in with one goal and two assists. And the Mexican wonderkid has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, with his progress.

The Catalan giants are renowned for constantly scouring the market for the most promising young prospects. And such an outlook has helped Barcelona sign current first-team regulars like Pedri and Gavi from other clubs. Meanwhile, they have been busy signing highly-rated youngsters this summer, with Mikayil Faye and Noah Darvich arriving at the club.

Meanwhile, amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, Barcelona can do with a young winger. And while Lamine Yamal has burst onto the scene this year, the reigning La Liga champions can sort out their long-term future on the flanks by signing a young prospect.

That brings Heriberto Jurado into the picture, with the 18-year-old Mexican wonderkid being a viable target for Barcelona. But the Catalan giants face stiff competition from FC Porto and Sporting CP for the promising young prospect.

Reports from other outlets have suggested that the Spanish champions are ready to launch the offensive to sign the 18-year-old. And it will be interesting to see if Jurado joins Barcelona before the summer transfer window shuts down.
