Sevilla are eyeing a loan move for Liverpool prospect Stefan Bajcetic, but there are doubts whether the Merseysiders would offload him now.
According to Fichajes, La Liga giants Sevilla are optimistic about convincing Liverpool to loan out Stefan Bajcetic for the current season. The Spanish side are willing to include a reasonable buy option as part of the agreement. But there are doubts whether the Merseysiders are open to allowing the talented midfielder to leave now.
Sevilla are in a bit of a pickle with their financial conditions and could offload several players as part of their urgent need to secure funds. The other side of the strategy will make the club look for bargain options that could suit their present and future.
One of them would circle around finding loan deals for promising players, and they have set sights on Stefan Bajcetic. The 18-year-old Liverpool prodigy had a meaningful start to his Anfield career and had become a regular in the side, which consisted of underperforming former midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
The Spanish side are eyeing a loan move for the talented youngster and are willing to include a reasonable buy option worth €12-14 million. Whether that will prove sufficient to convince Liverpool remains the question. But the report suggests the player seems open to the idea.
A possible departure for Bajcetic will depend on the player’s conversations with Jurgen Klopp and how he sees him as part of the system. The 18-year-old Liverpool prodigy would certainly want assurances he will have the exposure similar to last season; if not, he should be ready to play regularly elsewhere.
For their part, Liverpool have lost a series of experienced stars in this window and lack depth in midfield areas. They managed to sign Wataru Enzo from VfB Stuttgart, but only after failing to land at least two of their top targets.
Klopp remains open to adding a new midfielder before the window shuts, but the options are shrinking. Hence, allowing the 18-year-old to depart at this stage would seem risky, as many see Bajcetic as an able backup option to the holding midfield role, as he provides a different option.
Sevilla will enter talks with the optimism of convincing Liverpool to sanction this deal. Still, the Reds might end up negotiating a far greater buy option if they are willing to offload Bajcetic. For the player, it could spell the beginning of playing regular first-team football, but the Merseysiders might lose a big prospect.
