Manchester City keen on Murillo

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are interested in the services of the 21-year-old Corinthians centre-back Murillo.

According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, Manchester City would love to have Murillo in their ranks. The City Group-owned club are always on the lookout for young exceptional players and the 21-year-old seems to be a great fit for them.

Murillo was promoted to the Corinthians’ first team around six months back. He has featured in a total of 27 matches for their senior team and has put in some exceptional performances in the heart of the defence.

The 21-year-old’s sensational rise has caught the eyes of quite a few clubs. And, there could be a bidding war for his services given the number of clubs that want to have him in their ranks.

While his contract with the Brazilian club runs until the end of 2025, the Brazilian defender is expected to part ways with the club in the near future.

Fiorentina are one of the clubs that have been closely monitoring him for a few years now. The Italian club are looking to close the ongoing transfer with a new defensive signing and they have been in talks with Corinthians.

They initially put forward an offer worth €8 million but it was rejected by the Brazilian club. The Italian club followed it up with another offer, this time it was worth €12 million but the Brazilians still ended up rejecting it.

Meanwhile, PSG had also submitted a bid worth €15 million. But, even that was rejected by the Brazilian club as they are looking to raise as much funds as possible from his sale.

Corinthians are looking for a fee close to €20 million for their defensive sensation. And, might even agree on a deal worth around €15 million but will then look for a significant percentage on future sales.

Manchester City are also interested in the 21-year-old. They have been doing great business in the ongoing window and already have a world-class squad capable enough to compete for all titles. But, City are still on the lookout for young players who can help in the years to come.

They have monitoring Murillo for a while now and believe he could be a great signing. But, according to the report, they are monitoring him for next season.
