Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are interested in the services of the 25-year-old Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Liverpool are keen on having Federico Chiesa in their ranks. While the Merseyside club’s focus in the ongoing transfer window has been on the midfield and defence, they have also started planning for life after Mohamed Salah.
The 31-year-old winger has been the mainstay of their attack for quite a few years now. Salah joined Liverpool back in the summer of 2017 and has gone from strength to strength since returning to England.
The Egypt international has featured in over 300 matches for the Reds and has been involved in a total of 267 goals. He has found the back of the net on 187 occasions and has also bagged 80 assists.
Salah will go down as one of the best players in the history of the club but with him already 31 years old, the Merseyside club need to prepare for life without one of their most successful attackers. While he still has two years left on his deal, Liverpool are looking to secure a replacement as soon as possible.
There is a lot of interest from Saudi Pro League clubs in the 31-year-old. While Liverpool are unlikely to sell him in the ongoing window, things could be different in a year’s time. Meanwhile, they have started looking for a potential successor.
Federico Chiesa is a name on their list of targets. The Italian international might have struggled with injuries in the recent past but a fully fit Chiesa is a force to reckon with. Since joining Juventus, he has gone from strength to strength. And, the 25-year-old even played a key role in helping his nation win the EURO 2020.
While he wasn’t at his best last season because of injuries, the Italian international has got off to a perfect start in the new season. He has already found the back of the net in the opening encounter of the season. And, it looks like the injury struggles are a story of the past. Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the 25-year-old and believes he could be an ideal replacement for Salah.
The Reds are interested in Chiesa’s services but they are unlikely to make any moves in the ongoing transfer window. The Merseyside club will most likely address the issue in the winter window or in the next summer transfer window. For now, they will focus on completing the midfield overhaul and bolstering their defence.
