Sheffield United are in talks with Manchester United for the signature of their 21-year-old winger Facundo Pellistri.

According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Sheffield United are keen on having Facundo Pellistri in their ranks. The 21-year-old winger is unlikely to get much game time at Manchester United in the 2023/24 season. And the Premier League newcomers are looking to sign him on a season-long loan.

Pellistri joined Manchester United back in 2020 from Penarol for a fee of £9 million. Since joining the Red Devils, he has featured in a total of 12 matches for their first team. Out of those 12 appearances, ten came last season.

He has spent a significant amount of time out on loan at Spanish club Alaves and has featured in 35 matches for them. While he has not done much at club level, the 21-year-old is a huge future prospect and has showcased his quality in his 12 outings for Uruguay national team.

The former Penarol winger even featured for his national team at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Despite going from strength to strength over the past 12 months and featuring at the global event, he has not had much game time at Manchester United and things are unlikely to change in the 2023/24 season.

Pellistri is way down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag. While he might not be an important member of their first team at this point in time, the Uruguayan international is a huge prospect for the future. As a result, Manchester United are not ready to sell him but could let him leave on loan.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are looking to bolster their attack before the end of the transfer window. Their return to the Premier League has not gone according to plan so far as they have lost their first two fixtures on their return to the top flight.

Tougher challenges await Paul Heckingbottom’s team, who are now looking to sign Pellistri on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old is an exceptional talent and he could help the recently promoted team fight for survival. This stint will also allow him to prove himself in England.

Sheffield United have established contacts with Manchester United over a potential loan deal. The talks will continue over the next few days. And if the Red Devils agree to it, the 21-year-old will most likely feature for Heckingbottom’s team this season.
