French club Stade Rennais are looking to sign the 27-year-old Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Davinson Sanchez.
According to a report by Foot Mercato, Stade Rennais are working on a deal to acquire the services of Davinson Sanchez. The 27-year-old defender’s future has been uncertain for a while now and he is expected to part ways with Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the transfer window.
Sanchez made a name for himself while playing for Ajax before joining Spurs in the summer of 2017 for a fee of €45 million. While he had a decent start to life in London, things have gone downhill over the past few years.
The 27-year-old has been inconsistent and he has slowly gone down the pecking order. Last season he was involved in just 24 matches and racked up under 1300 minutes.
With his contract running out in less than a year’s time, Spurs are ready to cash in on the Colombian international. While they can’t recoup anything close to what they paid for his services, the London club still do not want to lose out on him for free.
As a result, they are ready to negotiate his departure and are looking for a fee in between €10 million to €12 million. While he has been linked with quite a few clubs throughout the transfer window, nothing much has happened.
However, Stade Rennais have shown a lot of interest in the 27-year-old defender of late. Rennes are preparing for life without Arthur Theate. The 23-year-old centre-back joined the French club last summer.
In his first season for Rennes, the Belgian international featured in a total of 42 matches and racked up close to 3800 minutes. He became the mainstay of their defence and even contributed towards six goals.
While he still has three years left on his deal, his impressive performance have resulted in a lot of interest from some of the top clubs from across Europe. And, according to reports, the 23-year-old is close to joining RB Leipzig.
With his departure almost certain, Rennes are looking for a potential replacement and they believe Tottenham’s Sanchez could be a great fit for the club.
