Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares, but talks between the two clubs have collapsed.
Nuno Tavares was on loan at Marseille last season, and his performances have attracted the attention of Nottingham Forest. However, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Premier League club have not been able to reach an agreement with Arsenal, and the move seems to have collapsed.
The Portuguese defender does not have a future at Arsenal, and he needs to leave the Premier League club permanently. A move to Nottingham Forest would allow him to play regularly in the Premier League and showcase his qualities at a high level.
Nottingham Forest need defensive reinforcements, and the 23-year-old emerged as a quality option for them. He was a regular starter for Marseille last season and made 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals in the process.
Arsenal already have Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko at their disposal. They will not be able to accommodate the 23-year-old defender in the starting lineup. So it makes sense for them to cash in on him.
Nuno Tavares and Nottingham Forest, deal currently OFF — as he’s already considering different options. 🌳⛔️ https://t.co/Neo3eMwYCx

The Gunners could certainly use another central defender, and it remains to be seen whether they can bring in a quality signing after the departure of Tavares. The Portuguese defender is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors after his impressive performances in Ligue 1 last season, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Arsenal have been very active in the transfer market so far, and they have brought in quality players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber. However, with Timber, they have been dealt a major blow as the Dutchman picked up a serious injury on his Premier League debut. He is set to be sidelined for several months and Arsenal will have to fill the void with a new signing now.
The Gunners will look to go all the way in the Premier League this season, and Mikel Arteta needs to plug the gaps in his squad. The lack of defensive depth derailed Arsenal’s title race last season and Arteta will be keen to avoid a similar problem. It will be interesting to see if Nottingham Forest decide to resurrect a move for the 23-year-old Arsenal defender in the coming weeks.
Tavares is clearly a talented defender with a bright future ahead of him, and he is only 23. The defender is likely to get better with coaching and experience. He could prove to be an asset for Nottingham Forest if they manage to secure his signature this summer. But a move away from the Premier League seems likely.
