Crystal Palace have made a surprise entry in the race for the signatures of 26-year-old Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson.
According to a report by The Sun, Crystal Palace are interested in the services of Dean Henderson. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from Manchester United throughout the transfer window. There has been a lot of interest in the England international, and the Eagles are the latest club to enter the race.
Dean Henderson has been at Manchester United since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks and was promoted to their first team back in 2020. But, he is yet to establish himself in their first team.
The 26-year-old has been subject to multiple loan moves, and he has put in some impressive performances. But, those performances are not enough for the Englishman to become the number one at the Manchester-based club.
Previously, he was behind David de Gea in the pecking order. While the Spanish international has left the club, he has been replaced by Inter Milan’s number one Andre Onana. The former Ajax shot-stopper will be the Manchester United number one going forward which means there is no place for Henderson at the club.
The 26-year-old won’t accept a backup role, and he prefers moving away from the club despite having two years left on his deal. Throughout the summer, he has been linked with a move back to Nottingham Forest. The England international was on loan at City Ground, but his spell was cut short because of an injury.
Despite the injury, Nottingham Forest are keen on having him back. But they cannot accept United’s terms. As a result, the move has stalled. The Red Devils are ready to send him out on loan with a purchase option. An option which will become an obligation after a certain number of games.
As a result, there is room for other clubs to try their luck. And, Crystal Palace are the one keen on having him at their disposal. Their number one Vicente Guaita looks set to leave the club. If he ends up leaving the club, they will need a new number one and they believe the Manchester United deputy goalkeeper could do the job for them.
While Crystal Palace will also find it hard to strike a deal for the 26-year-old, they are still trying to find a way out. Meanwhile, they are also focused on other potential targets, including Alex McCarthy and Daniel Iversen.
