Arsenal will be open to shelling out €15 million to sign Real Valladolid prodigy Ivan Fresneda, a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ivan Fresneda is the subject of interest from Arsenal. And the Gunners are willing to fork out €15 million to land the Real Valladolid whizkid. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old is also a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.
Ivan Fresneda has established himself as one of the best young prospects in his homeland after his breakthrough campaign. The Spaniard represented five clubs in his formative years, including Real Madrid. And he made his first-team debut for Real Valladolid in January 2022 in a Copa del Rey tie.
But 2022/23 was his breakthrough season with Real Valladolid, as he featured regularly after making his La Liga bow. And Fresneda turned out 24 times across all competitions this past term. Meanwhile, the 18-year-old has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal, with his performances in the previous campaign.
Barcelona’s endeavour to sign a right-back this summer has not yielded the desired results. But Joao Cancelo is seemingly the top target for Barcelona after they briefly chased Fresneda. And the Manchester City outcast is closing in on moving to the Catalan club this summer. So the Real Valladolid upstart might no longer feature on their wishlist.
As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos can do with an alternative to Dani Carvajal. That is because the Spanish international has seen his performance levels drop in the last few seasons. In addition, Lucas Vazquez is not as dependable as he was some years ago. So Fresneda is a viable target for Real Madrid.
But the 18-year-old will likely join Arsenal this summer if he leaves Real Valladolid. The report claims that the Gunners are ready to meet Real Valladolid’s asking price of €15 million to secure Fresneda’s signature. And have already contacted the other parties over a deal, a summer move might see the light of day for Arsenal.
It will be interesting to see if Barcelona and Real Madrid respond to Arsenal’s prospective offer of €15 million. For now, the 18-year-old is seemingly closing in on joining the North London clubs in the ongoing transfer window.
