Everton weigh up improved bid to sign Wilfried Gnonto

Everton are considering putting forward a third bid for the services of 19-year-old Leeds United sensation Wilfried Gnonto.

According to a report by I News, Everton are keen on having Wilfried Gnonto in their ranks. The Toffees have already made a few attack-oriented signings. But, they are still keen on further reinforcement and are looking to add the Leeds United teenager to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

Gnonto came through the ranks at Inter but he failed to break into their first team and ended up joining FC Zürich. The Italian international was on fire while playing for the Swiss club. His performances resulted in a big-money move to Leeds United ahead of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

He ended up featuring in a total of 24 matches and contributed towards six goals. The teenage sensation made a name for himself in a very short time. But, despite his efforts they ended up getting relegated.

While Leeds are featuring in the Championship in the new season, the player wants to return to the English top flight and is keen on leaving the club.

Leeds have suffered financially because of the drop and they are in desperate need of funds. While they do not intend to sell him and have rejected multiple bids, the Championship club could still end up letting him leave for the right price because they have to balance their books.

The 19-year-old has four years left on his current contract, as a result, Leeds have all the power in the world on the negotiation table. They have already rejected two bids from Everton that were under £20 million, which is nowhere close to Leeds’ valuation at this point in time.

While Everton haven’t met the asking price, they are still in the race for his signatures and are considering making a third bid for the 19-year-old who wants to leave Leeds.

Gnonto recently asked not to be considered for a game and it could once again happen in the near future. His decision to be not involved hasn’t gone down well with the fans. And, the situation suggests there is a real possibility of him leaving the club.
