Ajax keen on Donny van de Beek

Ajax are interested in re-signing the 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek before the end of the transfer window.

According to The Sun, Ajax want to bring back Donny van de Beek to the club. The 26-year-old midfielder hasn’t had the best of times since joining Manchester United and he is unlikely to have enough first-team minutes next season. As a result, a move elsewhere is a real possibility.

Van de Beek joined Manchester United in the summer of 2020. He came through the ranks at Ajax and made quite a name for himself thanks to impressive performances in the league as well as the Champions League.

There was a lot of competition for his signatures but the Red Devils ended up winning the race and paid around £35 million for the Dutch international. Since making the move to Manchester, nothing has gone right for the 26-year-old.

He has struggled with injuries and has often found himself on the bench. He even had a brief loan spell at Everton during the 2021-22 season. When Erik ten Hag took charge as the new Manchester United boss, everyone expected Van de Beek to get sufficient minutes.

But, things haven’t changed and an injury towards the second half of last season didn’t help his cause. Things are unlikely to improve next season, as a result, the 26-year-old could be on his way out despite having two years left on his deal. The Red Devils are ready to negotiate his departure and even the player is ready to part ways.

Meanwhile, there is interest from Ajax in the Dutch international. They are looking to bring him back to the club. But, since they failed to qualify for the Champions League, they have to be very cautious with how they use their funds.

As a result, the Dutch club are looking to bring Van de Beek back to the club on a season-long loan. But, Erik ten Hag will not be happy with such a deal because he needs funds to ensure they end up signing long-term target Sofyan Amrabat before the end of the transfer window.
