Everton are reportedly eyeing a summer swoop for Southampton star Kamaldeen Sulemana this summer.
According to Daily Mail, Premier League side Everton are keen to raid Southampton for Kamaldeen Sulemana in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Despite having a reliable goalscorer in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton lack alternatives whenever the Englishman is out injured. The failure to replace Richarlison and Anthony Gordon in successive windows has come back to hurt them.
The prospect of yet another relegation dogfight is on the cards unless the Toffees get their act together. Going into the campaign relying solely on Calvert Lewin could be suicidal, and Sean Dyche will do well not to push his luck.
Everton were keeping tabs on Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto but suffered a setback when the Peacocks rejected the £15 million bid for the Italian international. The Merseysiders have since shifted their goalposts and have now earmarked Kamaldeen Sulemana as an alternative.
The Toffees were keen on signing Sulemana from Stade Rennais last January before he made his move to St. Mary’s. With Southampton now relegated, Everton will hope to land their man on the second try.
Primarily a left-winger, Sulemana can play anywhere along the frontline. The 21-year-old is yet to hit his peak and has facets to improve upon in the years to come. A solid dribbler, Sulemana is capable of playing in between the lines and also having a pop at goal. He will certainly add dynamism to the Everton attack for the 2022/23 season
Meanwhile, the Blues agreed a deal in principle with Sporting CP to sign striker Youssef Chermiti as well. Both he and Sulemana will future proof the attack and could prove to be senior stars on Merseyside in the years to come.
It has been a subdued window at Goodison Park so far this summer with Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma (On loan), the only signings so far. Sulemana and Chermiti are far from first XI prospects but have enough potential in them to develop into senior stars. Having enjoyed several seasons of mediocrity, adding fresh blood to the roster will certainly give Dyche a fresh perspective to work with next season.
