Aston Villa will have to pay €28 million in order to sign the 22-year-old AC Milan midfielder Charles De Ketelaere.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa are keen on having Charles De Ketelaere in their ranks. Unai Emery’s team are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season and are keen on acquiring the services of the 22-year-old Belgian youth international.
Ketelaere joined the youth academy of Club Brugge back in 2008. He came through the ranks at the Belgian club and was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2019. Post that he went from strength to strength and made quite a name for himself.
His impressive performances resulted in a big-money move to AC Milan. The Serie A giants signed him ahead of the 2022/23 season for a fee of €35 million. But, his move to Milan has not gone according to plan, and they are ready to offload the 22-year-old just a year after signing him.
The Belgium midfielder featured in a total of 40 matches but was on the pitch for under 1,500 minutes. And, all he could manage was an assist. The 22-year-old failed to live up to the expectations of the Serie A club, who are now ready to let him leave for a fee of €28 million.
AC Milan are looking to recover a significant part of what they have invested in bringing him to the club. The Serie A giants going through a rebuild under the new sports management led by Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio.
The club have already signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek Samu Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders. They are working on a few more signings and meanwhile, are also looking to offload players who have underperformed of late. As a result, the 22-year-old has been shown the exit door.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are keen on signing the Belgian youth international. Unai Emery’s team have been very busy in the ongoing transfer window, and they have already made some big signings but are looking to add more firepower.
Emery is keen on adding a new attacking midfielder to the mix and has his eyes set on the 22-year-old. While Aston Villa are interested in the Milan midfielder, it will be interesting to see if they are ready to meet the €28 million asking price.
