Newcastle United have reportedly failed with a £30 million bid for Valentino Livramento, with Southmpton possibly asking for more than £40 million.
According to Sky Sports via Football Daily, Newcastle United have failed with a £30 million bid for Valentino Livramento. The 20-year-old full-back is a big target for the Magpies, but Southampton could demand more than £40 million for the defender.
Tino Livramento is one of the brightest talents in English football and one of the prized assets for relegated Southampton. The Saints made a smart move by signing him from Chelsea two years ago, and the full-back delivered a stellar first season at the club.
After making 32 appearances, including 28 in the Premier League in 2021/22, Livramento succumbed to a serious knee injury, which ended his season and the next. Last term, the promising full-back only managed to play twice. But that has not deterred Southampton from reducing his asking price.
Amid some interest from top Premier League sides this summer, Southampton slapped a £40 million asking price on the 20-year-old. Chelsea and Newcastle United admired the full-back, with the Magpies particularly keen to sign him.

Newcastle had advanced with their interest, but now, they have failed with a £30 million bid for the £40 million-rated wide defender. The story insists Southampton considers Livramento and Romeo Lavia as their prized assets and will not sell them below their value.
Newcastle United were also boosted by reports suggesting Livramento would snub Chelsea to join the Magpies. But they have to agree on a fee. Eddie Howe’s side have shown reluctance to pay big this summer, despite their outlay on Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes.
They have been searching for a new, young right-back since January to play as an understudy to Kieran Trippier. The idea will revolve around steadily becoming the England international’s long-term successor with names like Ivan Fresneda previously linked.
With Livramento fully fit and raring to go, he may not push too hard to leave Southampton if the two clubs cannot agree on a fee. Newcastle may know that fact, but they must show their seriousness with another offer close to Southampton’s valuation.
£40 million may seem excessive for a player who barely featured last term. But there’s a firm belief in Livramento’s talents. The 20-year-old needs to play regularly, and at Newcastle, with the Champions League campaign, he could get proper exposure to top-level football.
