Bayern Munich have entered the race for the signatures of Liverpool star midfielder Fabinho who is closing in on a move to Al Ittihad.
According to Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring the services of Fabinho. The 29-year-old defensive midfielder is closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad, but the German giants are still keeping a close eye on his situation.
Bayern didn’t have the best of seasons last time out as they failed to fire in the Champions League and were behind in the league title race for the majority of the part. While they did end up winning the Bundesliga, it was not the kind of season that one expects from the German giants.
As a result, they are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. Their new manager Thomas Tuchel is looking for a new defensive midfielder and has his eyes set on the Liverpool star Fabinho.
The £39 million Brazil international has been the talk of the town of late because of him being linked to a move away from the club. The 29-year-old is close to joining Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad.
The SPL club had already reached an agreement with the player as well as the club. And, as per reports, he had successfully completed his medical a few days back and was all set to be announced as their new signing. But, of late things have slowed down a touch.
Romano on Fabinho’s transfer situation: “I’m told this deal is absolutely still on, but it was never “done”. Verbally it is very advanced, Al Ittihad are still preparing documents and there can’t be any green light without contracts check.
“That’s the key point now, checking all the documents and details of the deal, including payment terms. But the deal, as of now, remains on. Bayern Munich also called last week to be informed on the Fabinho deal in case it collapses.”
Reports suggested that the deal could fall off but according to Romano, it is still on. The Saudi club are working on final documents and checks are being conducted regarding the contract as well as the payment structure. Once everything is checked, the transfer shall be completed.
Meanwhile, he has also talked about Bayern Munich’s interest in the 29-year-old’s services. The German giants are keen on acquiring his services and have asked to be kept informed about his contract situation with Al Ittihad.
Bayern are ready to enter the race for his signatures if his move to the Saudi Pro League collapses. But, according to Romano, the deal is still on and should be completed in the coming days.
