Kylian Mbappe reportedly has no interest in joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Barcelona set to enter the race after scheduling a transfer meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham Hotspur recently emerged as one of the surprise names linked with an audacious swoop for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. However, according to Get French Football News, the Frenchman has absolutely no interest in joining the Lilywhites. The report also adds that PSG are actively pursuing a deal for Harry Kane, who remains Les Parisiens’ top striker target.
Mbappe’s future continues to dominate the headlines in the media. The 24-year-old, who is refusing to sign an extension with the French champions, has been put up for sale and was also left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.
PSG believe the 24-year-old has an agreement in place to join Real Madrid next year on a free transfer, having made it clear he will not be triggering a one-year extension in his existing contract, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions desperate to land a fee now.
Real Madrid have long been touted as his next destination. But other clubs have started to show interest in acquiring his services. Sky Sports claim that PSG will listen to “any offer” for their prized asset, including loan deals, and that a host of top Premier League clubs have expressed an interest in signing him, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
With Harry Kane still looking like he could join Bayern Munich, Tottenham are looking at all the options possible and are believed to have explored a cheeky loan deal for Mbappe.
However, it seems the Lilywhites may already be out of the race for his signature following reports from France stating that Mbappe is not thought to be keen on the idea of moving to Spurs this summer. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal have already lodged a record-breaking formal €300 million bid, which has already been accepted by PSG.
However, the deal is still extremely complicated, as Mbappe is not convinced about moving to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career, even if for only one season, and with Al Hilal willing to pay him a €700 million annual salary, that would make him the highest-paid footballer of all time by a long mile.
L’Equipe are reporting that Barcelona have suddenly shown an interest in the Frenchman’s situation despite their iffy financial position and have scheduled a meeting with their PSG for later on Monday in order to discuss the logistics of a potential operation.
The Parisians would prefer to do a deal with the Merengues’ arch-rivals Barcelona for Mbappe. But any chances of Mbappe moving to Camp Nou look bleak at best given they do not have the money to sign him in an outright cash deal, and any potential deal would likely have to involve several top players moving the other way, which is unlikely to happen.
Though the Blaugrana’s interest could well force Real Madrid’s hand to act on their interest, given that they have been quiet so far. It remains to be seen where Mbappe’s next destination may be, but the 2018 World Cup winner certainly has plenty of options to choose from.
