Aston Villa are all set to put forward an improved offer as they look to land the 21-year-old Belgian international Jeremy Doku at the club.
According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, Aston Villa are pushing hard to acquire the services of Jeremy Doku. They are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season and want to sign the 21-year-old Stade Rennais winger.
The English club had submitted an offer for his services in the recent past. But it has been rejected by the French club. But with Unai Emery and managing director Monchi both keen on having him in their ranks, they are looking to place a second bid in the coming days.
Unai Emery took charge of Aston Villa last season when they were struggling for survival. The Spanish manager managed to turn things around and ended up guiding them to Europe. The English club finished seventh in the league and are all set to compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season.
As a result, they are keen on bolstering their squad. Emery’s primary focus at this point in time is on strengthening his attacking options and his team have their eyes set on quite a few talented players from across Europe, including Dusan Vlahovic.
One of their targets is Belgian international Doku. The 21-year-old has made quite a name for himself with impressive performances for both club and country. And, he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs across Europe.
Doku might not have had the desired minutes last season but he still managed to impress a lot of people. He was involved in 35 matches for Ligue 1 club Rennes and was on the pitch for just over 1,600 minutes. He contributed towards seven goals and also bagged four assists.
On the back of his consistent performances, Emery is keen on having him in their ranks. Aston Villa have been in talks with the French club for a while now. They recently submitted a bid worth €25 million but it has been rejected by Stade Rennais.
Emery’s team are not ready to give up, and they are looking to submit an improved offer worth €30 million to the Ligue 1 club in the coming days. With Doku still has two years left in his deal with the French club, there is a possibility that they might accept the second bid.
