Barcelona will reportedly face competition from Premier League club Bournemouth for 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation Ivan Fresneda.
According to a report by Football Insider, Ivan Fresneda is the subject of interest from Bournemouth. The Cherries are ready to launch the offensive for the 18-year-old Real Valladolid defensive sensation. And the teenage wonderkid is also a target for Barcelona over a move this summer.
Ivan Fresneda is one of the best young prospects in his homeland. A former member of Real Madrid’s famed La Fabrica setup, the Spanish whizkid has risen in prominence since joining Real Valladolid nearly three years ago. And after rising through the ranks at the Spanish club, he made his first-team debut last year.
The 18-year-old featured regularly for Real Valladolid last season as he made his breakthrough as a first-team footballer. Fresneda has turned out 26 times thus far for Real Valladolid. And with the Pucelas dropping to the Segunda Division, the youngster’s future is up in the air. He is the subject of interest from Barcelona and Bournemouth.
Recent reports have linked Barcelona heavily with Fresneda. And with the right-back slot being a long-running problem area for the Blaugrana, it behoves them to bolster the position. So it is hardly surprising that the Catalan giants have shown interest in several players. And claims from the media have pointed to Barcelona being in the pole position to land Fresneda.
But to sign the 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation, Barcelona will have to launch the offensive quickly. That is because several clubs from the Premier League and Serie A are keen on securing Fresneda’s services. And Bournemouth will provide stiff competition to Barcelona for him.
Bournemouth narrowly staved off relegation last season, with Gary O’Neil doing a marvellous job to ensure safety. And with Andoni Iraola now taking charge at the Vitality Stadium, the Cherries are ready to back their new manager. Fresneda has thus emerged as a viable target, and he can be an upgrade on Adam Smith.
With Bournemouth ready to offer the funds to sign the youngster, his price tag of £15 million should not pose a problem. But it will be interesting to see if they can beat Barcelona to the signature of the 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation.
