Thomas Partey has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer, but the Gunners will not cash in on him.
According to a report from 90min, Arsenal are now uninterested in selling Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey this summer, and they are prepared to block his exit.
Partey was an indispensable asset for Mikel Arteta last season, and his departure will weaken Arsenal massively. Although they have signed Declan Rice for a British transfer record, they need to hold on to the experienced Ghanaian midfielder, who cost them €50 million when he arrived from Spain.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder is at the peak of his powers, and he will be a key player for Arsenal next season. The Gunners came close to winning the title this season, and they will be hoping to go all the way next year.
Arsenal need to hold on to their best players in order to compete with Manchester City once again, and keeping Partey at the club could prove to be a wise decision. Arsenal have been quite active in the transfer market so far, and they have already signed Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber as well.
Mikel Arteta is clearly determined to push for the title, and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners decide to bring in further additions before the transfer window closes. Meanwhile, Partey is not the only Arsenal midfielder linked with a move away from the club. Albert Sambi Lokonga might also depart, while Granit Xhaka, a key player last season, has joined Bayer Leverkusen.
Arsenal will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season, and they need a deeper squad to do well across multiple competitions. They cannot afford to weaken the squad this summer, and it will be interesting to see if they can convince the Ghanaian to stay at the club for another season at the very least.
