West Ham United are keen on having 22-year-old Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto in their ranks amidst interest from two other Premier League clubs.
According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United want to sign Brazil international Yuri Alberto. The 22-year-old forward has been putting in some consistent performances over the past two seasons, and David Moyes is keen on having him in his ranks.
Alberto came through the ranks at Santos. He managed to make quite a name for himself at a young age. The 22-year-old joined Internacional in the summer of 2020. He was a part of the Internacional step for almost two years before signing a five-year deal with Russian Premier League side Zenit St Petersburg.
After contributing towards ten goals in his 15 matches for the Russian club, the Brazil international returned back home in the summer of 2022. He joined Corinthians on a loan deal that was made permanent in the winter of 2023.
Since returning back to Brazil, the 22-year-old has featured in a total of 63 matches and has contributed towards 27 goals, including 14 this season. While his numbers are average, Moyes believes he has a lot of potential and could do wonders for West Ham in the long run.
The Hammers did not have the best of seasons last time. While they did win the UEFA Conference League, Moyes’s team had to struggle for survival in the Premier League. One of the reasons for their struggle was their inconsistency in front of goal, and the manager is keen on solving it by signing Alberto.
While his contract with Corinthians runs until the end of 2027, there is a real possibility of him parting ways with the club in the ongoing window. Apart from West Ham, there are two other Premier League clubs interested in his services. Emmanuel Adewole, an intermediary, has been tasked with gauging interest in the player from Premier League clubs.
West Ham received a significant financial boost after the sale of their skipper Declan Rice, and they can surely prise Alberto away from the Brazilian club. But, with two other Premier League clubs monitoring him, it won’t be that easy a task.
