West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
According to a report by 90min, West Ham United are keen on having Youssouf Fofana in their ranks ahead of next season. The Hammers are looking for a replacement of Declan Rice, who has officially completed his move to Arsenal.
The England international’s transfer to Arsenal has left a huge void in the team that needs to be filled before the season gets underway. The Hammers have prepared a long list of players that they are looking to target as a potential replacement.
Rice’s transfer has earned them over £100 million, and they are looking to make full use of it in order to strengthen their first-team squad. David Moyes’s team have their eyes on the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez, Denis Zakaria, Scott McTominay and Joao Palhinha.
The Hammers recently put forward a bid on Fulham’s table to sign Palhinha. However, their initial offer has been rejected by the Cottagers, who want around £80 million for the Portuguese international. While they still remain interested in the Fulham midfielder, it is still uncertain if they will once again push for his services.
Meanwhile, the Hammers also have their eyes on AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana. The 24-year-old has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months and has managed to prove his mettle with exceptional performances for both club and country.
Fofana can feature as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder, and he will surely be a great addition to the West Ham ranks. The 24-year-old’s contract with AS Monaco runs out in the summer of 2024. As a result, the French midfielder might be ready to offload him in the ongoing transfer window rather than losing out on for free next season.
The French international could be a great value for money singing for the English club. And, he can surely help them cope with the absence of Rice. While the Hammers are interested in his services, they are yet to make a move for him. And it will be interesting to see if a deal materialises.
