Manchester United have agreed personal terms with 20-year-old Japanese sensation Zion Suzuki ahead of a potential transfer.
According to Marco Molla, Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of Zion Suzuki ahead of next season. The Red Devils are looking to sign multiple goalkeepers post the departure of David de Gea and the 20-year-old Japanese youth international is one of their targets.
Even while De Gea was at the club, Ten Hag was keen on having another goalkeeper in his ranks. He wanted more depth as well as competition for the number one spot. And, now after United failed to extend the stay of the Spanish international, they are pushing to sign two goalkeepers.
Their priority for the number one spot is Inter Milan’s Andre Onana and the Red Devils are very close to agreeing on a deal with the Italian club. Meanwhile, they are also keen on having Zion Suzuki in their ranks.
The Japan Under-21 star who plays for Urawa Red Diamonds in the J League has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months. United have been scouting him for a while and believe he could be a great addition for the present as well as the future.
While he might not be a finished product, the 20-year-old can surely provide backup to their number one and takeover in a few years. The Red Devils have been in talks with the player’s representatives for a while.
And, according to Molla, they have reached an agreement with the player on personal terms. Suzuki is keen on making the move to Manchester but there is still some work to be done. The two clubs haven’t yet reached an agreement.
While they have been in talks but the Red Devils haven’t yet submitted an official bid for his services. They are looking to take the next and put forward an offer in the next few days. Given the financial strength of United, it might not be that big a task to strike a deal with the J League club. However, they could face competition for his services from a few other clubs across Europe.
